the 4 track spanning record opens up with the title track �hypersomnia� though techno sounds that revolve around a train-like whistle that repeats throughout the track�s poignantbuild. �green eyes� is an intrusive piece of work that closes down the a-side with it�s intense synth works. on the b side we find �iteration�. this growling piece of music has an almost live sounding quality to it. �ending point� is the toughest piece of work of the record which revolves around a fierce bass sound and a potent drum work.

a selection of forgotten demos by band hymn, active 1981-1984, with multi-talented musician and post-punk pioneer lucas trouble (�2016) in the lineup. dition of 400 numbered copies. hand stamped sleeve. includes insert with photos, artwork and liner notes. all the tracks were originally self-released as demo tapes in a very limited run. their first work, coming home, was published in 1983, and the second one, too many lies, in 1984. both of them were distributed by the band themselves. shortly after, they released a more widely known 12� ep, tired (nova express, 1984), with a different line-up and noticeably more rock-oriented. definers of a totally genuine sound, hymn were coevals to the underground-synth-post-punk movement that surfaced in france in the early eighties, easily recognisable today via cult labels such as bain total and invisible/scopa records, with stunning releases by experimental references like ilitch, philippe doray or incontinents.

fever am comes from a berlin connection between a pair of artists with roots on either side of the mediterranean sea and on both sides of the atlantic. label founders mor elian and rhyw (one half of cassegrain) share many musical reference points reaching back to early childhood right up to the present including the deeper, darker reaches of electronic music. the label is the pair�s rawest and truest realisation of these influences.

born roy samuel reid in saint thomas in 1944, i roy was one of jamaicas all-time greatest deejays. a natural-born toaster, his rhyming raps always sounded effortless, whether describing the harsh realities of the inner city, or making light of nonsense nursery rhymes. a former employee at customs and excise, he was first active on a sound system called soul bunnies in the rock steady era, moving to son�s junior in 1968, and later, to the legendary supreme ruler of sound, defecting to the rival stereo sound system after that. hits for harry mudie and other producers soon followed, and after the killer debut album presenting i roy impacted overseas, the toaster began spending frequent periods in london. his longstanding working relationship with hit-making producer bunny lee led to some of his most noteworthy albums during the mid 1970s, the 1977 set cant conquer rasta is a superb showcase-style album, on which the toaster blows hard lyrics over five of lees killer rockers rhythms (recorded with the likes of johnny clarke), each complete with a corresponding aggrovators dub on the flip, all mixed by prince jammy at king tubbys studio

weiss, limitiert und nummeriert! knapp drei jahre nach dem bis dato erfolgreichsten montreal album sonic ballroom legt das nordische trio um flutlichtgestalt max power endlich nach und wie gewohnt noch eine spatelspitze drauf. die 12 lieder auf schackilacki kommen in sachen sound, melodie und textlicher finesse derart direkt und unn¸tig aufgeblasen daher, dass nach 31.15 minuten schlicht keine fragen mehr offen sind. bleibt das fragezeichen, das der albumtitel erstmal in den gesichtern mancher zeitgenossen hinterl§sst... aber da winkt max power z§rtlich ab: wer auf anhieb nicht ahnt, was schackilacki ist, der wird es auch nach noch so motivierten erkl§rungsversuchen nicht verstehen

framed by two spoken word samples and wrapped in house and techno emotions, that know about electro and 90�s electronica too: the new, second album of the leipzig and berlin based producer and live artist martin enke aka lake people moves in a fresh way. this time he shifts towards a focus on the essentials of electronic club music: sounds and groove, rough and playful interweaved with the aesthetic particles of techno. with his �point ep�, released on the berlin based imprint krakatau records in late 2012, his creative life as a producer for melancholic driven club tunes took off. several top notch djs played the tune �point in time�, lake people started to tour world-wide with his mesmerizing live set and produced countless remixes for colleagues from all around the globe. in 2015 he finally released his first album �purposely uncertain field� on the munich based label permanent vacation and delivered eleven tracks at the interface of techno, ambient, experimental and electronic, that bewitch with hymnal chords, yearningly melodies, detailed production, elaborate sound design and an overall introspective, emotive feeling. now, just shortly after he published a fresh ep on the dresden based imprint uncanny valley, lake people drops �phase transition�, a new album consisting of ten haunting tracks full of dance suspense. he recorded all between 2016 and early 2017 on various vintage analog synthesizers, uad and other creative interfaces. to find out if his latest pure slamming tracks work deep, he tried them out during his live shows in order to catch some new ideas directly from the dance floor.

burnskis and jon woodalls constant sound sublabel constant black continues its march into the underbelly of heads down club tracks with this installment from the hitherto unfamiliar constant. whether it s burnski under a different guise remains to be seen, but the quality of the tracks is the prime concern here. the a1 track is the perfect blend of tech house, with a hooky rhythm section and all manner of shimmering sonic delights spread out on top. the a2 taps a more reduced house vein, keeping the beats slender and the melodic elements subtle and dubby. the b side cut seems to merge the two to create a bubbling slice of swinging funk for the subliminal generation.

makeness, the brainchild of kyle molleson, returns with his white label . off the back of a minor science remix being played out by the likes of jamie xx, ben ufo, avalon emerson and more last summer, the ep marks the producer�s most dance oriented ep yet. the roots of temple works date back to the producer�s time in leeds, which played an important part in both this release and his wider love for dance music. while there, molleson recorded a friend s percussion project, g-bop orchestra, at an old textile mill in holbeck, known as temple works. the vast openness of the space made for the best natural reverb and is weaved throughout the title track. it was also in leeds where the producer discovered cosmic slop, an all welcoming party with a sound system built by founder and resident dj, tom smith, with donations going towards raising money for local charity map (music and arts production). slop�s intimate and flawless sounding room played a huge part in cementing makeness� love for club spaces.

braiden s material has been slow to come out since he first landed with a bang on doldrums back in 2010. a turn on rush hour confirmed his status as a producer in command of the chops necessary to get a dancefloor shaking, but this years x years in london ost cassette was a chance for him to expand into more experimental pastures. not so on this new 12inch for his off out label, which finds braiden turning up the heat with some fiercely modern tech house workouts. v.o.l.a.t has the same kind of dangerous earworm armour that made paul woolfords erotic discourse so potent all those years ago. hydroplane meanwhile takes some of the crisp but playful tropes of pearson sound et al and straps them to a thrumming motorik beat
